Community Kitchen Volunteer Coordinator

Lifting Up Westchester is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator of Community Kitchen Volunteers to provide assistance, oversight, and administrative support with the volunteer team at Grace's Kitchen. This includes creating a schedule for Kitchen Volunteers, manage sick and vacation requests, identifying volunteers to cover shifts as needed (or fill in themselves, if available), and train new volunteers that have been vetted by the Engagement Manager.

Volunteer Coordinator skills and qualifications:

• Supervisory skills
• Some scheduling experience
• Excellent people skills with a can-do attitude and calm and pleasant demeanor
• Knowledge of homelessness and food insecurity issues (or interest in learning)
• Ability to work independently and to prioritize/organize tasks
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Attention to detail
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Strong organization skills
• Strong time management skills
• Punctuality, availability, and flexibility
• Ability to troubleshoot challenges and convey pertinent information quickly and discreetly
• Ability to learn database entry procedures needed to train new volunteers
• Able to provide own transportation to White Plains site
• Professional demeanor in all areas of interaction/correspondence (phone, email, text messages and in-person)
• Genuine interest in advancing the mission of Lifting Up Westchester
• Must be able to show proof of full vaccination and complete a background check​
