Become a Community Sponsor for Refugees

Hearts & Homes for Refugees is a Westchester-based, volunteer-driven nonprofit that actively resettles refugee families across Westchester County. It has an immediate need for local volunteers to welcome and support refugees from a wide range of countries—including Afghanistan, Honduras, Myanmar, and Ukraine—as part of its Community Sponsorship program.

Hearts & Homes for Refugees is organizing teams of experienced, trained volunteers as well as first-timers. Groups of volunteers from faith and civic groups are strongly encouraged! As Community Sponsors, volunteers commit to 3 to 12 months of support in different roles, including assisting refugees with their job searches, enrolling their children in school, helping to navigate the healthcare system, learning English, community orientation, driving the families to appointments, fundraising, organizational roles, and more.

Volunteers who speak Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Dari/Farsi, Pashto, and other languages are encouraged to express interest!
