2021-2022 Bridging Generations Social Media Pen Pals
One Change at a Time's popular "Bridging Generations" program focuses on connecting younger and older generations. This program typically takes place in long-term care facilities, such as the Dumont Center in New Rochelle. With these facilities limiting the amount of visitors due to post COVID-19 protocol, One Change at a Time is looking for new ways to conduct this program so local seniors can stay connected and inspired!
One Change at a Time is looking for both youth and adult volunteers to become friends with residents in long-term care facilities and seniors in the community. Volunteers will provide a brief introduction letter, stating their name, mailing address, and reason for joining the program. Be prepared to list some of your hobbies, culture and interests.
Help make a difference in the life of a senior while expanding and improving your writing skills. This is a special way to keep social distance, while also letting our seniors know we are thinking of them. “Bridging Generations” is a great project for all ages, families and students.
This is a self-directed project. To volunteer:
- Express interest below to record this opportunity in your Volunteer New York! profile
- Share a photo of yourself for your penpal to view and tag #1ChangeAtATime on social media!
Age Minimum (with Adult): 8+, Minimum Age:13+
