Volunteer Information Specialist for 211 Call Center

United Way of Westchester and Putnam is looking for Volunteer Information Specialists for its 2-1-1 call center! United Way's 2-1-1 serves as a confidential, comprehensive, and primary entry point into community service information, referral, and assistance. This 2-1-1 call center is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

The Volunteer Information Specialists would be answering incoming calls related to tax assistance or helping clients get connected to community resources. The minimum time commitment includes 2 hours of on-site training, and then 5 hours a day for two days a week to be spent on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer calls on an assigned schedule
  • Assess callers' eligibility
  • Gather information accurately on caller contacts
  • Stay informed on programs and changes in services
