Opportunity Details
Serving the Village of Briarcliff Manor and the surrounding area, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department (BMFD) has been entirely volunteer-run since 1901—and it needs you! Help the department as it responds to fire, rescue, and emergency medical incidents. All volunteers are provided with training that empowers them to become effective first responders. Annual physicals are required and administered for free at the firehouse; required background checks are performed by the Village. Click here to view frequently asked questions and answers.
Volunteers are not only able to help their community, but they can enjoy dinners, parades, and picnics thrown by the department and each incorporated fire company. Volunteers also qualify for certain tax benefits, recreation passes, a modest retirement fund, and a special insurance benefit.
Anyone 16 or older who lives or works in Briarcliff, Ossining, or Mount Pleasant can apply to join. (Those under 18 will need their guardians' permission and will have a limited firefighting role; please click "express interest with a family, group, or team" below to register with an adult.)
