Volunteers to Help Kids With Classwork

Youth Community Outreach Program (Y-COP) of Mount Vernon is looking for volunteers to work with school-aged children (1st-7th grade) as part of its Alternative Care and Learning Program. The program, which runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., is specifically designed to assist children with online remote learning while their parents are at work. Volunteers will be asked to help keep children focused and engaged on their assignments.

This is an in-person project for about 13 children who are working remotely during the day; volunteers will be screened and, if approved, placed on a two- or three-day schedule. All volunteers will be required to undergo a background check and must provide a negative COVID-19 test result. Volunteers must be comfortable using WiFi and Zoom, as well as be able to assist students with classwork.
