The holidays can be an extremely difficult time of year for families and children who have been struggling, and Family Services of Westchester’s annual "Adopt a Family" gift drive makes the season a bit brighter for Westchester families who are unable to buy essentials and gifts.
Family Services of Westchester's mental health clinicians, social workers, teachers, and staff nominate families for a holiday “adoption.” These families often break into tears of joy and disbelief when they have been chosen. The program staff personally delivers the items to each family; it is an amazing experience to witness and be a part of.
"Adopt a Family" Volunteers will be matched with an anonymous "adoptee" family from Westchester County. They will receive the family's story and holiday wish list of items; volunteers then enjoy holiday shopping for their adopted families and deliver the wrapped gifts back to the Family Services of Westchester office.
