Restorative Justice Coordinators for Youth

D.A.F.T. Youth Services Inc. (Dandelions Are Flowers Too) offers academic support, mental health counseling, restorative justice practices, life skills training, and other supportive services to at-risk students throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley.

D.A.F.T. is currently seeking volunteers to serve as a Restorative Justice Coordinators to help teach and instill passion, self-awareness, and personal growth skills to youth. Restorative Justice Coordinators will engage students in activities that promote healthy and normative social-emotional skills, as well as serve as a positive, supportive figure of consistency in their lives.

Restorative Justice Coordinators will: 

  • Visit their student at school and, in coordination with teachers and school staff, identify student growth and areas of concern 
  • Use this information to inform, create, and review behavior reports and incentives.
  • Establish intervention and restorative practices that ensure all students find social, emotional, and academic success. This includes aligning time, resources, and support with the individual and collective needs of D.A.F.T. students. 
  • Act as a positive role model and liaison between the school and students' families. 
  • Communicate with parents and guardians as needed on the behalf of the student. 
  • Attend (remote/virtual) meetings to address the students' academic performance and behavior.
  • Communicate openly and consistently with other interdisciplinary team members who are also working with the student.
