2020 Make Friendly Calls to Seniors
UPDATE 10/20/20 3:40 PM:
Due to high demand, this opportunity is now full!
Please check our calendar for more opportunities to help other nonprofits in need.
Meals on Wheels of Rockland's Telephone Reassurance Program aims to alleviate feelings of isolation among local seniors. Volunteers will call and engage in friendly conversation with seniors in order to check in on their health and mental wellbeing. Genuinely listening to someone is an act of kindness, so ask someone to share their story with you and the conversation will be a gift to both the senior and the volunteer!
Looking for:
- Volunteers who can commit to calling seniors at least once a week
- Friendly, outgoing individuals who are great at conversation
- Experience using Google forms is a plus, but not necessary (training will be provided)
- Ability to take notes and record important information
Volunteers will:
- Receive a list of names and phone numbers of seniors who are in need of check-ins
- Make calls from their own phones and on their own time
- Call each senior on their list at least once per week. This is critically important: this is truly the volunteer's list for the duration of their time volunteering with Meals on Wheels!
- Document each call using Meals on Wheels' Google response form
Express interest below to find out more information and to see if you'd be a good fit!
Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:16+
