Help Pre-Screen Student Nomination Applications
Each year, Student Advocacy recognizes four students who have overcome a variety of obstacles to succeed in school with the Overcoming the Odds award. The organization is seeking volunteers to read nomination letters to help determine which students will move on to the next phase of the evaluation process. Nominations come from school districts around the county. This hands-on volunteer opportunity takes just a few hours and can be done from home!
Project details:
- Letters are 1-2 pages long
- Volunteers are asked to read 8-10 letters and rank them online in February 2020
- Reading can be done at home at the volunteer's convenience
- Estimated time commitment is approximately two hours
Student Advocacy works with students who often face significant barriers to success, and the Overcoming the Odds awards is one way to recognize some of these outstanding students. Past volunteers have found this to be an extremely gratifying project!
