Drive to Donate New Socks and Underwear for Children in Need

Underwear and socks are a basic necessity, something we put on each morning as we prepare for the day. They are a daily essential yet, unfortunately, for many children in Westchester a luxury their families struggle to provide. Over 60,000 Westchester children live in low-income homes, with 36% of public school children qualify for free or reduced price lunch. For these children, new underwear and new socks are often financially out of reach. Please help The Sharing Shelf provide these critical items to the 3,000 children and teens we serve each year. A week's worth of underwear - or 7 pairs - averages about $10 at the local discount store. Your donation will not only help children feel good, it will meet a human need in our community.  We need underwear in all sizes, from 3T through Adult (teen) XL and socks from infant through adult.There is free parking for volunteers at the Westchester County Center. Let the parking attendant know you are there to volunteer for the 9/11 event. There is no need to sign up for this drive - you can just come by to donate.
