Fix the Farm

Clean up the sensory trail! A sensory riding trail is a rich learning environment of woodland paths that consist of slopes, turns, varied footing, natural sights and sounds, and man-made "activity stations." This integrated environment challenges the students' balance, stimulates their senses and encourages them to interact with the world around them. Pegasus Therapeutic Riding launched a program for veterans “The Equus Effect” last fall and it has been met with such positive feedback. This is a horsemanship program designed specifically for Veterans which builds upon the horse-human bond and its effects on healing, building, trust and improving relationship. Each session is five weeks long. Our focus in this 5-session program is on helping veterans rebuild healthy relationships. Our horses and facilitators will support veterans on their journey with respect and skill. “With all the stress I’m going through in my life with cancer and the open heart surgery it’s a safe place to go to. I can feel totally relaxed.” Pete- Veteran. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with an adult to participate in this event.Wear comfortable clothing you and shoes to work in. 
Bathroom facilities in the barn along with full kitchen. There is plenty of parking on the farm. This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember.
