Thanksgiving-In-A-Box

Help Huguenot Memorial Church feed more than 800 needy families in Westchester this holiday season during its 14th Annual Thanksgiving-in-a-Box Food Drive. This interfaith event is coordinated through Huguenot Memorial Church, Pelham Jewish Center, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Catharine's Parish, Christ Church, Pelham Community Church, and Bronxville Reformed Church, and Family Services of Westchester will be providing boxes of donated food to families at its Mount Vernon, Pelham, Port Chester, Tarrytown, White Plains, and Yonkers locations.

Volunteers are needed to assemble the boxes of food, which will feed a family of 6-8 people. Here’s how to volunteer:

1. Express interest below to indicate that you'd like to put together a box.
2. Buy the specific food items (shopping list below) and pack the box at home.
3. Bring the box to the Huguenot Memorial Church library in Pelham. Boxes can be dropped off between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. between Saturday, November 23 to Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

Here is the shopping list for Thanksgiving-in-a-Box. Everything will fit inside the box except for the ham:

• 1 pre-cooked sliced spiral ham (8-10 pounds; you can find this in the meat section of your grocery store, but please, no canned hams)
• 2 (28-32 oz) bags of rice
• 3 (15 oz) cans of corn
• 3 (15 oz) cans of peas
• 1 (5 pound) bag of potatoes; approximately 12 potatoes
• 1 (3 pound) bag of apples; approximately 8-10 apples
• 1 (1 pound) box of pasta
• 1 (24 oz) jar of tomato sauce (any kind)
• 1 bag/box of cookies (Oreos and other cookies with similar packaging are perfect!)
• 2 (64 oz) containers of juice (please no cider or anything that needs to be refrigerated!)
