Movie Buddies

Movie Buddies is designed to help immigrant students build their English language skills through watching films that are correlated to their Global History curriculum. Students view movies with Spanish subtitles since most of the students are Spanish-speaking, and then they participate in small group discussions with their mentors. The object of this program is to prepare the students for their history regents tests in June and to improve their English vocabulary and comprehension. The students are mostly 9th-graders as well as some 10th-graders. This program is run on Tuesdays from 3-5 p.m. at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers.
