Outreach Volunteer for After-School Program

The Catskill Hudson Area Health Education Center (AHEC) provides health vocational development services in order to meet the needs of underserved communities. It offers service learning projects for students from professional health training programs.

AHEC is looking for a volunteer to reach out to local middle and high schools to assess interest in starting "Scrubs Clubs." These clubs utilize an established curriculum to encourage social-emotional learning and skills development, especially for underserved student populations. (Full details about the Scrubs Club curriculum can be found at www.chahec.org.)

Volunteers will contact area schools to encourage them to start Scrubs Clubs or review the curriculum, as well as supply the AHEC team with feedback.

Volunteers may have:

  • Experience as an educator, teacher, board member, administrator, guidance staff, school health professional, or health provider
  • Experience in marketing or public relations, especially in health, education, or nonprofit management fields
  • Commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations
  • Patience, persistence, a sense of discretion and balance, the ability to work within protocols, and the ability to reliably and responsively communicate

Volunteers from any and all backgrounds are encouraged to apply! This is a remote volunteer position that requires a telephone and personal computer with e-mail capacity and internet service. Schedule is flexible.
