Become a Board Member

Sheltering the Homeless is Our Responsibility (SHORE) is currently seeking board members! SHORE is an all-volunteer, interfaith, not-for-profit housing organization that provides primarily permanent, affordable rental homes for homeless families. Its board members:

1. Are knowledgeable about SHORE's mission and properties.
2. Empathetic to the homeless families they assist, become familiar with the backgrounds of existing tenants, and are willing to help choose new tenants.
3. Are proactive, attend regular board meetings, participate in fundraising and organized activities, and contribute ideas and energy towards making SHORE more viable both financially and operationally.
4. Publicize SHORE's mission and needs; board members understand that only SHORE provides permanent homeless housing, that there are critical homeless housing needs in Westchester County, and that continual financial support is needed for apartment maintenance and administrative support involved in caring for its families and their needs.
