2018 Occupational Therapist Volunteers

GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center, Westchester is currently looking for a volunteer Occupational Therapist to join our wonderful dedicated team. Leaps and Bounds: Typically meets on the SECOND Saturday of the month at 10-11:30am. Leaps and Bounds (recommended ages 3-5) needs an occupational therapist to join our amazing physical therapist once a month to execute a purposeful program and get our young kids moving! Leaps and Bounds helps to promote social, emotional, gross motor and fine motor development through a variety of activities, including interactive play, sharing, cooperative games and physical activity. Creativity and movement will be incorporated throughout the program. The goals of the program are to: Increase appropriate peer interactions and social skill development Promote gross motor development to minimize the impact of low muscle tone Promote fine motor development via fun games and tasks Increase coping skills and ability to manage transitions through calming exercises and transition support Volunteer Program Leader Requirements: - Must be 18+ - Attend an hour orientation (Sessions available 6.30pm-7.30pm 1st Wed of the month) - Observe two programs - Once the above requirements have been fulfilled a background check is required. - Minimum commitment of 6 months required Please express interest below.
