VCS Inc. provides accessible and affordable counseling services and family support programs.
"I should have been a counselor." If you have ever said that to yourself, we can train you to become a counselor in the widely acclaimed VCS Volunteer Counselor Training Program.
VCS seeks adult applicants of all ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and those who are bilingual and bicultural. There are no formal education requirements.
VCS looks for those who are open, willing and motivated to learn. Curriculum, taught by professionals, includes the VCS Counseling Model, relationship issues, domestic violence as well as issues such as sexism, racism, and other issues of oppression that impact people's lives. There is a fee for the training.
Training programs are offered twice a year and take place on Wednesday evenings, 6:45pm -9pm for 12 consecutive weeks. Space is limited.
Those who become counselors commit to volunteer 4-5 hours per week for a minimum of 18 months. Placement depends upon the successful completion of the training program.
