Holiday Toy Drive Opportunity - Make the Holidays Brighter for Children at Abbott House

We are seeking a Team of Toy Drive Volunteers  and Team Leaders to help ensure that every child at Abbott House feels special and knows they are not forgotten during the season of hope and love.

We are seeking a team of 20 to 30 Volunteers who can devote three to five hours a week starting on December 10, are organized, good at sorting/packing/unpacking, comfortable working in a team environment and can lift up to 20 lbs. These Support Team Volunteers are required to:

  • Help solicit donations of toys based on children’s wish lists.
  • Receive, sort, organize and take inventory of toys.
  • Assist in picking up toys as needed.
  • Collect and/or fill out In-kind Donation forms for toys received.
  • Fill toy “orders” and group them into bundles to be distributed to Case Workers/Program Staff.
  • Oversee pick-ups of toys from campus in Irvington campus by Case Workers/Program Staff.
  • Work closely with Toy Drive Project Manager Volunteers to meet the goals of Abbott House.

We are also seeking three (3) Project Manager Volunteers who are available starting on November 1, highly organized, proficient in Excel and comfortable managing relationships and troubleshooting. The Project Manager Volunteer will:

  • Solicit donations based on wish lists.
  • Work with Abbott House Development Staff to devise a systematic plan for utilizing Support Team Volunteers to help receive, sort, organize and take inventory of items.
  • Work with Abbott House Development Staff to coordinate logistics for pick-up of toys by Program Staff.
  • Communicate with Team Volunteers to arrange schedules and assignments. Create master schedule and distribute to all involved via email.
  • Serve as a liaison between Abbott House Development Staff and the Support Team Volunteers.
  • Help with data entry of items into database.
  • Maintain master inventory list.
  • Make phone calls to find out wish list details, clothing sizes, etc. when needed.

Date: November 1 through December 24

Time: Three to five hours a week on average. Schedules can be coordinated in advance.
