Position Description
The Corporate Relations and Service Events Intern supports the entire Corporate Relations and Service Events team and reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director. The Corporate Relations and Service Events team works to mobilize volunteers beyond the traditional Volunteer New York! referral process. It takes a more hands on, managed-approach coordinating volunteer projects to engage individuals and groups in service. Specifically, the Corporate Relations and Service Events intern will provide broad support towards our efforts to engage corporate employees through our Customized Corporate Days of Service as well as community, corporate and civic groups through our community wide service days – Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service (January) and 9/11 Serve and Remember.   This is the ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about volunteerism and interested in learning more about nonprofits, event planning, corporate social responsibility, and program development.                                                                                                                     Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of customized corporate days of service including:
    • site visits to potential partner agencies
    • ordering supplies
    • creating and managing supply budgets
    • developing project curriculums
    • providing onsite day of event management
    • gathering and reporting back on impact data
  • Assist with preliminary preparations for our 9/11 Serve and Remember
  • researching possible project locations
  • developing project evaluations and volunteer surveys
  • Support Corporate Relations and Service Events team in ensuring most effective utilization of internal database for managing corporate relationships
  • Assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including data and assembling corporate service information packets, etc.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the team

Qualifications
  • Demonstrate commitment to community service and volunteerism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products
  • Willingness to learn our database program, Salesforce
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Professional demeanor and communication skills, both in person and on the telephone, with a wide range of agency contacts and volunteers
  • Experience working with volunteers, corporations and/or in customer service will be considered a plus
  • Ability to be flexible, to keep a sense of humor and to solve problems with confidence and creativity
  • Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds
  • Must have own transportation

Salary and Hours
We are seeking a candidate who can commit to a regular schedule of approximately 10-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, anytime between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate could make a three-month commitment. This position is available immediately. This is an unpaid position.
