2018-2019 Adelante Juntos (Parent-Child Together) Volunteers - Ossining

Neighbors Link is recruiting volunteers for its Parent-Child Together Program in Ossining. Shifts take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.

Parent Child Together provides parents with peer-to-peer learning opportunities with a focus on positive parenting skills, early childhood development, and school readiness. While the parents learn, the children participate in activities within the classroom that cover shapes, colors, numbers, letters, and pre-literacy concepts, which help them gain the social emotional and self regulation skills needed prior to entering Kindergarten.

What do the volunteers do?
  • In the first hour, parents and children work separately and staff and volunteers help the children with separation and also carrying out the activities for the hour.
  • In the second hour, parents and children come together for activities while staff and volunteers model techniques for struggling parents and assist when a parent has more than one child in the program.

Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of six months if possible (there is flexibility for vacations, etc.).
