Volunteer commitment: Deliver JA Business Plan curriculum for 6 consecutive weeks to students at Croton Harmon HS.
One 50 minute session per week for a total of 6 sessions (delivery can be shared between multiple volunteers)
Location: Croton Harmon High School
February 9th – March 29th
What does volunteering for Business Plan Competition entail?
JA New York Business Plan Competition (BPC) connects entrepreneurial lessons to the real world experience of creating a business plan. In Spring 2018, high school students from the five boroughs, Long Island and Westchester will spend seven weeks working with volunteers from the business community. These volunteers will deliver JA lessons and curriculum once a week during a regular high school class period and will serve as consultants and mentors and work with students in small teams to develop a plan for an original idea. We have an immediate need for volunteers to deliver sessions and consult participating classes in Croton Harmon High School. An individual can volunteer to support a class for all six sessions or a team or business can sign up to cover a class and spread the sessions amongst a number of participants.
What skills are needed?
A desire to motivate and inspire young people! Volunteers come from a variety of professions and are encouraged to use creativity to connect the key concepts with “real world” experiences. No teaching or business background is required – all volunteers will be trained and provided with the necessary classroom materials.
What support will I receive?
When you sign-up to lead a class, you will receive a JA materials via an online platform and includes an in-depth volunteer guide and lessons. Prior to the event dates, a JA representative will lead you through a training session to help you prepare and to answer any questions. The teacher will remain in the classroom to help manage the students during all sessions.
How do I get involved? Please express interest below.  If you have any questions contact cdanyko-sage@jany.org
By volunteering, you will inspire and empower students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world. Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
