Hunger Relief Corps:Orientation

Join Volunteer New York!’s Hunger Relief Corps (HRC)
As a member of the HRC, you will serve with Hunger Relief Partners in Westchester and Rockland counties who are combating hunger head-on. These organizations grow and/or provide food to underserved individuals and families who have limited or no access to transportation, to those suffering from chronic diseases, and to those who are homebound.

We need your help! Please join us for our Hunger Relief Corps Orientation at Volunteer New York!’s headquarters to find out how you can impact hunger and poverty in your community. We encourage all HRC members to attend an orientation/training before being assigned to a Hunger Relief project.

Details of HCR Membership:

Time Commitment: Ongoing for at least 6 months - a monthly or bi-weekly commitment

Location: Throughout Westchester and Rockland Counties

Ways to participate in alleviating hunger:

• Become a HRC Team Leader
• Serve in a soup kitchen
• Prepare meals
• Stock shelves and unload trucks at a food pantry
• Conduct a phone in-take
• Package food
• Deliver food to families, the chronically ill, or food pantries
• Plant and harvest produce in community gardens
• Distribute food
• Teach children about healthy eating
