Job Search/Career Services Volunteer

Jobs Transition Initiative is partnered with HOPE Community Services to deliver one-on-one volunteer career services to people going through transitional housing. We are in search of volunteers to meet one-on-one at HOPE’s location in New Rochelle.
The objective is to get our clients a transitional job while they go through job training.

Program Details

-(2) 1-hour sessions of career counseling to a client per week
-Volunteer will be assigned a client and begin counseling meetings to prepare them for their job training program.
-Assess the client’s capability of completing the program and get to know their strengths and weaknesses.  Also assess their goals and interests to find the best field/program for the client.
-Review findings with the client and help identify shadow opportunities to expose their client to a potential field.
-Assist client in applying for desired training program and track their progress once they begin, providing support as well.  
-Once the client has completed half of their program, the volunteer can start teaching resumé, interviewing, and job search skills to prepare them for the workforce.  


Minimum Qualifications Required
• Masters Degree and/or 10+ years of professional work experience and/or advanced degree
• Experience applying for multiple positions throughout career history
• Experience working in different levels of ones own career
• Proficiency of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Able to deliver counseling to a client
• Leadership Skills – Strong Communication Skills
