2017-2020 Literacy and Math Tutors

GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center Westchester is currently looking for literacy and math tutors to join its team.

Volunteers want to make a difference to families and are interested in tutoring on a one-on-one basis. Previous tutoring experience is not necessary; full training and support is provided.

Literacy and math sessions run for 10 weeks (there are four sessions per year) and the total commitment will be an hour per week for 10 weeks. The schedule is flexible!

Volunteer requirements:

  • Must be 18+
  • Attend a one-hour orientation (sessions available: 6:30-7:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month; please express interest for up-to-date schedules)
  • Attend one or two trainings 
  • Once these requirements have been fulfilled, a background check will be required
