Point-in-Time Count Enumerator

Position Description: The Westchester County Continuum of Care Partnership for the Homeless (CoC) is seeking volunteers to help count the people experiencing homelessness in Westchester County. 
 
Enumerators will be assigned a geographic area to survey and will be deployed in teams from a specific count site during the evening of the Point in Time (PIT) Count.   Enumerators are essential in capturing critical data that helps our region monitor our progress in solving homelessness while building awareness on the issue. 
 
Benefits: Volunteers are integral in the PIT Count campaign – this project helps Westchester County end homelessness by enhancing our understanding and knowledge of this issue, which helps our region develop sustainable solutions. You will join with other volunteers in a hands-on experience to directly learn about homelessness and its impact in our communities. Volunteers will have the opportunity to foster connections with other compassionate Westchester County Residents.
 
Key Responsibilities:
· Count homeless individuals sleeping unsheltered during the night of the PIT Count in areas not ordinarily used as a place for human habitation including: sidewalks, parks, transit stations, commercial establishments, alleyways, bushes, vehicles and hand-built structures
·  Complete a mandatory 2 Hour In-Person Training. Date is being finalized. 
·  Follow counting protocols and guidelines to ensure safe, accurate and timely data collection 
·  Check-in the evening of the PIT Count at an assigned Count Site
·  Work with teams to survey an assigned route within a specific census tract area 
·  Submit completed counting materials to Count Site Coordinators at the end of your shift 
 
Qualifications:
·  Interest in Westchester County CoC mission of ending homelessness in the Westchester County region
·  Self-motivated and able to work well with little supervision 
·  Ability to make clear decisions with sound judgement 
·  Dependable, adaptable, flexible, and punctual
·  Able to physically walk and/or drive 1 to 2 miles 
·  Access to reliable mode of transportation 
·  Able to complete an online training specific to this volunteer position Time Commitment: Counters commit to a shift of 4 to 6 hours depending on your assignment. 
·  Age 18 years or older
