2017-2018 Art Cart Volunteers

The Aranow Art Program at Northern Westchester Hospital is in Need of Volunteers

This innovative program brightens patients' hospital stays by providing a selection of reproduction artworks (there are 100 different images to choose from!) that fit into a custom frame on the wall across from each patient's bed. Volunteers visits each room with the "Art Cart", offering patients the opportunity to choose a print for display, and to engage in conversation. 
Requirements:
- Volunteers need to be physically able to push the manual cart and have the dexterity and reach to remove/replace art prints.
- A sense of humor and the comfort level and ability to engage patients in conversation is a must.
- Volunteers must be up-to-date on immunizations and must either have a flu shot or wear a mask during flu season.
- No art experience required
Schedule:
- Volunteers are needed for 2 hour shifts between the hours of 10am and 4pm on weekdays, preferably Tues, Wed & Thurs.
The Aranow Art program was inspired by Rita A. Aranow who recognized the need for personally pleasing images in a patient's room. Instead of stark walls or irritating posters she believed that patients would benefit from looking at an image that would foster a sense of well being. The program is a free service made possible by generous donor support.
