STRIVE Forward ACE Mentor
STRIVE Forward is a national initiative funded by the US Department of Labor (USDOL) to assist disconnected youth in successful re-entry and success in education and careers. Building on its innovative service model and well-established Affiliate Network, Westhab’s STRIVE will provide services over a period of 26 months to approximately 122 youth, ages 14 to 24, from communities where poverty and crime are most concentrated. STRIVE’s Active Career Exploration Mentor Model (ACE) Model connects successful local career and industry leaders, leveraging Affiliates’ existing employer relationships, to provide STRIVE facilitated mentoring to at risk youth in structured classroom group sessions focused on career exploration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Support Westhab’s STRIVE Staff member during ACE Service Learning Project Orientation for program participants. -Provide support and guidance to youth participants in the community and the workplace. -Support youth in developing service learning projects. -Accompany program participants on service learning projects relevant to their career and life pursuits. -Work with other key Westhab and Westchester Workforce Development Board personnel focused on STRIVE Forward ensure the success of program participants. -Must be willing to commit to becoming a STRIVE Forward Mentor for at least six months. Qualifications, Education and/or Experience: -Must be able display and articulate the process of becoming a successful local career and industry leader. -Bachelor’s degree preferred, or comparable work experience. -Must have knowledge of issues pertaining to at risk/disconnected youth. -Must have strong time and project management skills. -Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of public and non-profit partners is a must, excellent interpersonal skills required. -Must have outstanding communication skills. #IG009
