Opportunity Details
Volunteers will create no-sew fleece super hero and princess capes, masks and crowns for children at the WestCOP Head Start Centers. In addition to being very fun, dramatic play also enhances fine motor coordination. Imaginative and creative play allows children to express themselves both verbally and non-verbally. Actively using their large and small muscles as well as their different senses in play, children develop healthy, strong, and complete neurological connections in their brains. Creating these capes, masks, and crowns fosters this type of play and allows kids to develop these vital skills. There is free parking for volunteers at the Westchester County Center. Let the parking attendant know you are there to volunteer for the 9/11 event. This is a family friendly event. If you are interested in signing up as a family, please choose Sign up with a team. Volunteers must be 15 years old or 10 with an adult to participate in this event. This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember.
