Healthy Futures Corps

Apply for the 2017-2018 Healthy Futures Corps program! 

Healthy Futures Corps is the country’s largest health-focused AmeriCorps program. With the mission to improve health care access and enhance workforce development, AmeriCorps members are placed in health centers to provide community outreach and health education in medically underserved communities. Open Door places a team of AmeriCorps members every year in our Ossining or Port Chester health centers, with the majority of the service activities taking place in the surrounding schools and at community locations. 

This program is a great opportunity to give back to the community and gain valuable experience in the health care field, especially health education, physical activity, nutrition, early literacy, behavioral health, and community empowerment. It is a good fit for people who want to serve on a dynamic team and make a difference in people’s lives by empowering them to take care of their health and wellbeing.  Most of our alumni are successfully matriculated into graduate programs pursuing careers in medicine and the healthcare field, and say that the experience has really served them well in their continuing education.  Successful candidates are highly motivated, positive, creative, and outgoing.
