Plan Community Forums on Race Relations
My Brother’s Keeper New Rochelle is looking for a few people to join some of the initiative’s committees. Most groups meet once a month or bimonthly but sometimes meet more frequently as an event or program approaches.
Race Relations Committee
Seeking new members to join this committee, which plans Community Forums on Race Relations.
In April 2015, New Rochelle was the first community in Westchester and one of the first in the state to accept President Obama's My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge, which aims to lift all students, particularly boys and young men of color. This cradle-to-career initiative is designed to close the opportunity gap for boys and young men of color from ages birth to 24 by improving school readiness, grade-level reading, academic success, college access, vocational training and violence prevention. MBK New Rochelle is a dynamic coalition bringing together dozens of volunteers and more than 100 local non-profit partners. As a partnership between the City of New Rochelle and the School District, MBKNewRo accesses the City’s vast municipal, community and educational resources.
