Job Description / Announcement Position: Social Media Volunteer

Responsible to: Development Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: Girls Inc. of Westchester County‘s mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We are a 501(c)3 youth development agency that delivers pro-girl programs during and after school at schools and community centers throughout Westchester County. We are the local affiliate of Girls Incorporated, a 150 year old national non-profit providing more than 140,000 girls across the U.S. and Canada with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. Research-based curricula, delivered by trained, mentoring professionals in a positive all girl environment equip girls to achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Summary: The Social Media Volunteer will assist in maintaining and growing Girls Inc. Westchester presence on social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The volunteer will regularly post curated content relevant to the Girls Inc. Westchester mission, and promote Girls Inc. Westchester’s programs, events, and fundraising campaigns as outlined in Girls Inc. Westchester/s social media calendar. This position essential to raising awareness of Girls Inc. Westchester’s impact in the community, advancing our advocacy platform, and enhancing fundraising efforts.

Qualifications:
 
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
• Interest in social media and marketing, communications, and girls’ issues 
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, Google Aps, and knowledge of Internet technology 
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Publisher, and Hootsuite a plus 

Work Schedule: Flexible, 2-5 hours/week. 10 month commitment (September – June) desired. Most duties can be executed remotely, if desired.
